Harry Kane signs new £200,000-a-week Tottenham contract until 2024 ahead of World Cup
HARRY KANE has signed a new long-term contract at Tottenham worth £200,000-a-week.
England captain Kane has committed his future to Spurs until 2024 after doubling his money to become the highest paid player at the club.
Spurs announced the new agreement by testing the huge screen at their new stadium to reveal the 24-year-old had pledged his future to the club.
It means the striker, who finished 2017 as the highest scorer in European football with 56 goals for club and country, can fly out to the World Cup with no distractions over his future.
And it will end speculation Real Madrid would mount a challenge to try to sign the forward this summer as they look for a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
The European champions have been tracking Kane for the past year, even though they had been reluctant to go anywhere near the world record £200million valuation Spurs have placed on him.
Kane said: "Obviously I've signed a new contract, I'm delighted with that.
"I can't wait to see all you Spurs fans in the new stadium next season."
NO FEAR England will win the World Cup in Russia but need to be fearless, says Harry Redknapp
In reality, the biggest threat Mauricio Pochettino faced about losing his star man was whether he would be tempted by the offer of riches elsewhere.
The likes of Real and Manchester United, another club who would have loved to have made a move, were in a position to stump up more than £300,000-a-week in wages.

Spurs have maintained a strict salary structure, which sees their stars on smaller wages in comparison to other of the big Premier League sides.
But they also have a lucrative bonus structure, higher than any other club in England, which supplements the wages and rewards good performance.
Kane had always maintained he was happy with life in London, but his emergence as one of the leading goalscorers in world football meant Spurs had no choice but to improve his terms.
He already had four years left on his initial agreement, but by agreeing to a two year extension he has ensured he joins the ranks of some of the biggest earners in the top flight.
