Manchester United news: New signing Diogo Dalot steps out in town on crutches… and passed club medical while injured

DIOGO DALOT has been spotted out and about in Manchester ON CRUTCHES just days after passing his Manchester United medical.

The 19-year-old defender has penned a five-year contract after the Red Devils agreed a £19million fee with Porto.

But seeing him hobbling around the north west city might come as a surprise to United fans.

Dalot has a slight knee injury, and has been told by the medical team at Carrington to keep the weight off.

It was initially believed he had an ankle injury, but the medical showed what the real problem was.

The teenager has been told to rest up by the club, and a source told SunSport that they "hope he will be ready for start of pre-season but are refusing to rush him".

Dalot is still pencilled in for the Reds' pre-season trip to America, where he will continue his conditioning work.

Speaking about his first signing of the summer, United boss Jose Mourinho said: “Diogo is an extremely talented young defender with all the qualities to quickly become a great player for this club.

“He has all the attributes that a full-back needs: physicality, tactical intelligence and technical quality, combined with a Porto Academy mentality which prepares players for the maturity they need at the professional level.”

Having completed his move to England, the youngster is hoping to repay the faith shown in him by his fellow countryman.

And he cannot wait to get started and learn from the Special One in the Premier League.
