Manchester United offered the chance to sign Jerome Boateng by Bayern Munich
Prem side needed to some good news after Anthony Martial's agent revealed he wants to leave
MANCHESTER UNITED have been told to come and bid for Germany defender Jerome Boateng by his club Bayern Munich.
The 29-year-old has made it clear to the Bundesliga giants that he wants out and a deal could be lined up while he is in Russia for the World Cup.
The news will be welcomed by Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford as he tries to build a side capable of catching up with rivals City.
And Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Sport Bild: “His thoughts about leaving Bayern still exist, as his agent has told me.
“We know that this topic might be approaching.
“When a club is interested and Jerome says that he wants to join this club, we will consider it.
“I don’t hide the fact that we have a financial threshold, but it won’t be low for sure.
“But I know that Jerome is thinking about leaving.”
United needed some good news after Anthony Martial's agent has confirmed the Frenchman has decided to leave.
Since the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January, the ex-Monaco striker has become very much second choice under Mourinho.
He said: “After thinking about all the possibilities and scenarios, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.
“There are many parameters, for now it’s premature to talk about it. Anthony will speak later to discuss all of this.
“Manchester United want to extend Anthony's contract and do not want him to leave but we haven’t found an agreement despite several months of negotiations.
"I think that when Manchester United, which is the most powerful club in the world it must be remembered, do not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is because they do really want to make him an important player.
“That’s why this decision comes in. It is a well considered decision.
"However, it is quite obvious and it is very important to remember that he is under contract.
"Manchester United will have the last word and that we will respect the decision of the club, he will go to the end of its commitment.”

Lamboley hinted the arrival of Sanchez played a serious part in his decision, while explaining he would be leaving with a heavy heart, given his strong connection with the fans.
He added: “This season he scored 11 goals and gave ten assists in five months. He was elected three times players of the month by the fans.
"Then the January transfer window arrived. I will not comment on the consequences of this transfer window.
