Rangers fixtures: Steven Gerrard faces Rangers baptism of fire with early Celtic clash as Scottish Premiership fixtures are announced

Gers will play three out of their first four matches away as Celtic kick-off title defence at home to Livingston

STEVE GERRARD will come face-to-face with his former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers on September 1 in his first Old Firm derby.

The new Rangers boss will take his squad across Glasgow to Celtic Park in just their fourth top-flight clash of the campaign.

Gerrard, 38, will begin life in the Scottish Premiership with a baptism of fire with three of his first four matches away from home.

The Gers travel to Aberdeen, who pipped them to second place last season, on Sunday August 5.

His first home league game comes a week later when St. Mirren travel to Ibrox before trips to Motherwell and the showdown against the Hoops.

Gerrard will take to the dugout for his first competitive match on July 12.

Rangers enter the Europa League at the first qualifying stage.

The second leg of the tie takes place on July 19.

Meanwhile, Celtic will begin their defence of the title by welcoming newly-promoted Livingston to Parkhead on Saturday August 4.

And they will enjoy home comforts three times out of their opening four games, with a trip to Hearts followed by a visit of Hamilton before Gerrand’s Gers come to battle.
