Antoine Griezmann signs five-year Atletico Madrid deal as Thomas Lemar arrives in £63m switch

Frenchman has officially committed his future to La Liga outfit days after releasing a video addressing Barcelona interest

ANTOINE GRIEZMANN has officially signed a five-year Atletico Madrid extension as France team-mate Thomas Lemar arrived in £63million deal.

Fellow French international Lucas Hernandez has also agreed fresh terms until 2024 in a triple swoop.

CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin was given permission to visit Les Bleus in the Russian town of Istria by boss Didier Deschamps.

And he delighted fans by bringing in Lemar, as well as keeping hold of Griezmann and Hernandez.

Griezmann, 27, released a bizarre video on June 14 in which he eventually confirmed he would snub Barcelona.

Spanish TV station Movistar+ aired a documentary which followed his decision-making process throughout the season.

But the Frenchman's announcement was ridiculed in some quarters, with many claiming it wreaked of self importance.

Lemar's signing could have been a tipping point for the striker as Atleti agreed a big-money move for the Monaco star, who had been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool.

The winger, 22, has been in superb form over the last two seasons and he will hope to star alongside Griezmann in Russia.

Hernandez, 22, earned a spot in Deschamps' star-studded squad after excelling for the Europa League champions.

His new deal is another huge boost for Atleti chief Diego Simeone who has got some important business taken care of early.

France beat Australia 2-1 in their World Cup opener after a controversy-hit game, which featured two penalties.
