Limbombe won his first Red Devils cap in a 4-0 friendly win over Saudi Arabia in March. He can play as a striker as well as on the left wing.

Terriers boss David Wagner wants to add the Mechelen-born ace to his squad after they secured Premier League survival.

Southampton and Lyon were also interested in Limbombe, while Leeds failed with bids to sign him in 2015 and 2016.

But Huddersfield officials are now close to a deal following talks with their Brugge counterparts after having an initial £7m bid turned down.

The West Yorkshire outfit will pay an initial £11m, with a possible further in £2m in bonuses and add-ons.

Reports in Belgium claim Limbombe has already been over to look for a house in the Leeds area.

Signed from Dutch club NEC Nijmegen until 2021, he is under contract with Brugge until 2021.

His brothers Stallone and Bryan are also footballers, with Royal Antwerp and Mechelen respectively. Their parents hail from the Congo.

Meanwhile, Aaron Mooy insists he is not using the World Cup as a way of putting himself in the shop window to engineer a move away from Huddersfield.

He said: "It's my first and maybe my last [World Cup], so I just want to enjoy where I am and try my best.

"I'm very happy at Huddersfield, it's a great club for me and I'm proud to be a Huddersfield player."
