ARSENAL have completed the £22million signing of keeper Bernd Leno.
The 26-year-old has officially joined from Bayer Leverkusen on what is believed to be a five-year-deal.
The Bundesliga club made the announcement on Twitter, posting an image of Leno with 'danke' - German for 'thanks'.
They added: "@Bernd_Leno is joining @Arsenal, effective immediately.
"Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication, Bernd! We wish you all the best in this next phase of your career".
Arsenal then joined Leverkusen in confirming that Leno was their man.
Gunners boss Unai Emery said: "We are very pleased that Bernd Leno will be joining us. Bernd is a goalkeeper of high quality and experience.
"He has been a top performer and regular number one goalkeeper with Leverkusen in the Bundesliga for the past seven years.
"We are all excited that Bernd has chosen Arsenal Football Club and look forward to start working with him in pre-season."
The Gunners looked in need of a new keeper when error-prone David Ospina replaced Petr Cech as the club's No1 at the end of last season.
Ospina was thought to have been close to joining Besiktas last summer and now looks likely to join Turkish rivals Fenerbahce after the World Cup.
Leno has won just six Germany caps due to Manuel Neuer, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Kevin Trapp blocking his path into the side.
But Leno has seven years of Bundesliga with Leverkusen, having made over 230 appearances since joining from Stuttgart in 2011.
He becomes Arsenal's seconded summer after they completed the signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner after the Swiss right-back left Juventus.
Emery is also closing in on Uruguay playmaker Lucas Torreira, 22, in £26m deal from Sampdoria.
