Danny Welbeck backs Jack Wilshere after Arsenal exit and tips friend to reach the ‘next level’
Pals bid goodbye to each other after Wilshere decided not to extend his contract at the Emirates
DANNY WELBECK is confident Jack Wilshere can reach the “next level” following the midfielder’s Arsenal exit.
Wilshere confirmed he would not be signing a new deal with the Gunners after holding talks with new boss Unai Emery.
The Englishman was on the verge of extending his Emirates stay on a reduced pay package.
But Emery could not guarantee Wilshere the games he craved, leading the ace to call time on his North London adventure.
Wilshere is now on the hunt for a new club, and pal Welbeck is confident the playmaker will thrive in his new surroundings.
Welbeck said: “I’m still going to be very close to him even though I won’t see him every day.

“Things change so quickly in football and I’m sure he’ll be missed, particularly by the fans.
“Jack’s contract was coming to an end, the contract was there for him to sign but he’s decided it’s best for him to leave and he feels like it’s come to a time where he’s made that decision and has to move on.
“He’s got to be positive with it, grasp the opportunity with two hands and keep improving and take himself to the next level.”
Speculation is rife as to where Wilshere will play next, with reports linking him to West Ham, Wolves and Everton.
