Rugani is regarded as one of the most gifted defenders on the continent.

He has established himself in the Italian national squad but still struggles for regular action with Juve.

The 23-year-old is considered as a rotational option by Old Lady boss Massimiliano Allegri, having played 22 times in Serie A last season and only 110 minutes in the Champions League.

Maurizio Sarri is expected to be appointed as Chelsea boss and the club have been targeting players despite the uncertainty over their managerial situation.
