WEST BROM favourite Zoltan Gera is retiring at the age of 39 as his "body has decided it's time to hang up my boots."
The midfielder, who had two stints at the Baggies, finishes his career at Hungarian football club Ferencvaros.
But Gera has suggested he will remain in football and may even take up a coaching role.
He wrote on his Facebook page: "This is not my end but the beginning of a new Gera Zoltan story.
"Football has given me so much more than I ever dared to dream as a young player.
"If i listened to my heart I would continue to play but my body has decided it is time to hang up my boots and retire from playing."
Gera, who also played at Fulham, says he already has plans for his retirement from playing.
He said: "Now a new era has started in my life but I want to stay close to football and I would like to do my best to use my experience in a positive way to help others achieved football success.
"It had been my greatest honour and pleasure to play alongside great people, in front of great football fans and for wonderful football clubs."
Gera also represented Hungary on 97 occasions before retiring earlier this year.
