WEST HAM are close to signing free agent Jack Wilshere — and will pay him £15MILLION over the next three years.
The ex-Arsenal midfielder was in talks with the Hammers on Thursday night and is set for a medical.
West Ham will pay the 26-year-old £100,000 a week, which is less than his old basic wage of £110,000.
But Wilshere will be given much more first team action under new Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini.
Wilshere reluctantly quit Arsenal when their new boss Unai Emery said he would not figure in his plans.
There have been concerns about Wilshere’s injury record although he played 38 games last term.
If the deal goes through he will go on the pre-season tour in Switzerland.
He has strong family connections with the East London club and he was once pictured as a kid wearing a Hammers shirt.
West Ham weren't the only option for Wilshere, with strong interest from Turkey.
Fenerbahce reportedly made a huge offer to Wilshere that will almost certainly eclipse West Ham’s when it comes to wages.
But the star’s decision does not come down to finances with his young family happily settled in London.
Wilshere missed out on Gareth Southgate’s England World Cup squad this summer.
And he also knows staying in the Premier League will keep him on the radar of the Three Lions manager as he looks to try and win an international recall.
Fellow Prem sides Everton and Wolves are also keen on securing the services of the playmaker.
