Watford consider giving Jack Rodwell a lifeline return to the Premier League after Sunderland nightmare
The former Everton and Manchester City could be offered a route back to the English top flight after a disastrous four years at Sunderland
JACK RODWELL could be given a career revival as Watford consider a move for midfielder, according to reports.
The 27-year-old saw his contract at Sunderland terminated, following their relegation to League One.
Rodwell managed just two Championship appearances last season, and has not played a senior match for the Black Cats since September 2017.
He was linked with a move to Bolton earlier this summer, but Watford appear to be his most likely destination.
The former England international was considered a future Three Lions captain after coming through the academy at Everton.

That earned Rodwell a big-money move to Manchester City but injuries and competition limited his opportunities.
A four-year spell at Sunderland followed, in which the Black Cats suffered back-to-back relegations.
But Watford could give him a sensational return to the Premier League, if Rodwell can pass a trial.
Yet, the midfielder has attracted interest elsewhere, with Italian Serie A sides and clubs in USA's MLS are also enquiring.
