Matej Vydra is wanted by Leeds United

Championship rivals Leeds have shown real ambition already this summer with the hiring of respected Argentine coach Marcelo Bielsa.

And the Yorkshire outfit would love to boost their new boss with the signing of Vydra, who finished as the second tier’s top-scorer last term with 21 goals.

The prospect of a move to Elland Road is attractive to £11million-rated Vydra, who has also been linked to West Brom.

But with time on his side, the Czech is hoping a top-flight club come calling in the coming weeks.

Equally, the ex-Watford man could easily stay put at the Rams where he has enjoyed his time and played some of the best football of his career.

Derby chief Frank Lampard was confident of keeping hold of his star man when he said last week: “There is a lot of speculation but he is still our player.

“We will see, but while he performs as well as he did last year, with the level of goals, I expect him to stay.”

The Championship side are looking to add Vydra to Chelsea pair Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman who have moved to Elland Road on loan.
