PAUL POGBA'S greatest ever performance off the pitch helped France to their finest achievement on it.

A video has emerged of the Manchester United midfielder firing Les Bleus up in the dressing room on the way to their first World Cup glory on foreign soil.

Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris was the France skipper out in the middle but Pogba was very much the leader with an inspirational speech before the 2-0 World Cup quarter-final victory over Uruguay.

Wearing just his shorts, Pogba declared they would reach the final and roared: "To be the best, you must beat the best."

He told his team-mates to prove they were worth their starting places but fight for the rest of the squad.

The insiders' video is a shot across the bows at those who have questioned Pogba's attitude and team ethic.

With Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi out suspended, Pogba ordered the France team to battle for "guys like him".

The 25-year-old said: 'That's it, there is no turning back anymore.

"That's it! We're going to continue, we're gonna go all the way! See you on July 15th - all together!

'Today Blaise [Matuidi] is on the bench, he's disappointed, he's annoyed! He wants to play more than anyone else on the pitch! He's gutted!"

After beating Uruguay 2-0, France overcame Belgium 1-0 before toppling Croatia 4-2 in Sunday's final.

And it was Pogba who led the celebrations back in France, taking the microphone to guide the squad in singing a wacky tribute to "shy" but shining star N'Golo Kante.

Pogba bellowed out a song that roughly translated as: "Ohh N'Golo Kante, ohh N'Golo Kante.

"He is short, he is nice, he’s the one, who stopped Leo Messi, but we all know he's a cheater at cards, N'Golo Kante!"

That rendition almost overshadowed the red carpet treatment from French president Emmanuel Macron to his nation's heroes at the Elysee Palace.
