Behind the scenes of Manchester United’s tour of LA as Axel Tuanzebe breaks world record, Angel Gomes forced to sing and Michael Carrick gets to work
Red Devils looked in fine spirits as boss Jose Mourinho put them through their paces ahead of the new season
MANCHESTER United stars got a boost on their pre-season tour when Oscar winner and huge Red Devils fan Gary Oldman stopped by to say hello.
The Red Devils have jetted out to LA as the hard work gets underway ahead of the upcoming season.
They had a special visit from Darkest Hour actor Gary Oldman, who looked delighted to spend time posing for photos with Jose Mourinho and players including Juan Mata and Ander Herrera.
The 60-year-old Londoner even had his own United shirt presented to him, with his name and the number one printed on the back.
Oldman won the best actor prize at this year's Academy Awards and posed afterwards holding the gong while wearing a Manchester United strip signed by Marcus Rashford.
Other shots from the United camp show Mourinho's depleted side in high spirits as wonderkid Angel Gomes serenades the group over dinner.
Defender Axel Tuanzebe, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, was also competing to be the centre of attention from United staff.
He uploaded a clip to Instagram of his team-mates belting his name after he posed alongside a Guinness World Record certificate.
It is unknown what record was broken but a picture on Instagram suggests it had something to do with the game Hungry Hippos.
Jesse Lingard is also in California but is enjoying time away from the rest of the group after recuperating from England's gruelling World Cup campaign.
Those who didn't participate in the summer tournament have been put through their paces by boss Jose Mourinho ahead of a challenging set of pre-season fixtures.
Training at the plush University of California in the West Coast sunshine, they are preparing for their first test against Club America on Friday.
But that is followed by games against San Jose Earthquakes, AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid.
There is one notable absentee from the group in star man Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean was embarrassingly denied a visa to enter the United States after being found guilty of defrauding the Spanish government in February during his time at Barcelona.
