And representative Tullio Tinti met Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici in Milan to discuss personal terms.

After their second meeting in a week, Tinti  insisted talks are “progressing very well” over a summer deal.

The clubs are yet to agree a fee with United asking for around £17million and Juve trying to negotiate.

But despite going on the US tour, Darmian - who can play on either flank - looks set to follow Daley Blind and Sam Johnstone out of Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho has brought in young Porto full-back Diogo Dalot, 19, and is likely to use him as cover at full-back.

But he could need to strengthen further with ageing Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young the current No1 picks.

Luke Shaw will aim to use the summer US tour to force his way into the team after vowing to prove himself to Mourinho.

The 23-year-old said: “The next five games are about fitness. I want to prove to the manager that I can be in his team.

"When everyone comes back, I still want to be the first name on the teamsheet. It’s time for me to show him I can be in the team.”
