LIVERPOOL have officially signed Alisson in a world-record £67million deal after the Brazilian put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

The Reds beat Chelsea to the signature of the stopper, 25, making him the world's most expensive goalkeeper in the process.

Roma took to Twitter to say: "Thanks for everything @AlissonBecker and good luck for your new adventure."

Liverpool confirmed the news on their website shortly after on Thursday night.

Alisson revealed that he received a text from Mo Salah, who he played with at Roma before the Egyptian left for Anfield last year, persuading him to join the Reds.

He told LFC TV: "Yesterday he (Salah) sent me a message to say 'Hey, what are you waiting for?'

"As the negotiations were at an advanced stages, I replied to him straight away saying 'calm down, I'm on my way'.

"I'm really happy, it's a dream come true to wear such a prestigious shirt for a club of this size that is used to always winning.

"In terms of my life and my career, it's a huge step for me being part of this club and this family.

"You can be certain that I'll give my all.

Alisson will immediately become Liverpool's first-choice stopper after Jurgen Klopp finally gave up on Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

Roma's sporting director Monchi had suggested the transfer was imminent earlier on Thursday.

Monchi claimed: "Alisson to Liverpool deal will be official soon. They made a world record bid for a goalkeeper and we decided to sell Alisson."

The Brazilian stopper is now the second-most expensive player in Liverpool's history - behind £75m-man Virgil van Dijk.

Liverpool had been chasing Alisson all summer, but at one stage it looked like one of Chelsea or Real Madrid could pip them to the post.

But a series of big-money bids this week has seen Klopp finally land his man, as Roma caved-in and opted to sell.

Roma themselves are now aiming to use their £67m windfall to land £36m-rated Bordeaux winger Malcom.
