German stopper was criticised on Twitter after handing Dortmund a third goal in a nervy performance
LORIS KARIUS hit out at Twitter trolls after another nervous performance in Liverpool's 3-1 defeat to Dortmund.
The Reds stopper sliced a clearance straight to Maximillian Philipp early in the game but the forward failed to take advantage.
Jacob Bruun Larsen netted Dortmund's third later on though after Karius palmed Christian Pulisic's tame effort straight at him.
Some fans have been blasting the keeper - who has endured a rough time since his two errors in the Champions League final - on social media.
Karius was called “s***” and a “topknot gobs****” while being told to leave Liverpool.
And in the worst cases, sick trolls wished him dead, although many more supporters were keen to turn on the worst offenders.
Karius, 25, responded via Instagram as he attempts to bounce back and provide competition for £67million Alisson.
He wrote: "To those who take joy in seeing other people fail or suffer, I feel for you.
"Whatever it is that is happening in your life to hold this much anger and hate, I pray that it passes and good things come to you."
Karius has also drawn support from legendary Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas.
The Porto ace, 37, tweeted: "This attack on Loris Karius, will it ever end?
"I’m talking about him like so many other goalkeepers. There are many more serious problems in the world… f***!
"Leave the kid alone. He is also a person. As we all are!"
