SUNDERLAND’S promotion hopes have been boosted by signing forward Jerome Sinclair.
The 21-year-old has joined the Black Cats on a season-long loan from Watford.
The Hornets have inserted a January recall clause into the deal.
Sinclair becomes new Sunderland manager Jack Ross’ eighth summer signing as he attempts to galvanise the club and lead them back to the Championship.
Ross, 42, told : “We need more players in the forward areas and Jerome is somebody who fits into that bracket, as he can play in multiple positions across the front line.
“I’m pleased to get him in and he’s at a stage in his career where he needs to play games, so he’s hungry to prove himself and he’s got a big opportunity here to do that.”
Sinclair joined Watford from Liverpool in a £4m move back in 2016 but has scored just once in 12 appearances for the Vicarage Road side.
The former England U17 international has also previously had loan stints with Wigan and Birmingham City.

Sinclair came through West Brom’s academy before leaving the Baggies for Anfield in 2012.
He scored just once during his time at Liverpool, with his only strike coming against Exeter in an FA Cup tie.
