Leeds ready to snap-up Derby striker Matej Vydra in £11m deal
Rams' top-scorer set to be sold as new boss Frank Lampard frees up funds to bid for Ipswich frontman Martyn Waghorn
LEEDS are ready to sign Derby striker Matej Vydra in an £11million deal and a major coup.
Free scoring Vydra was in talks about a £40,000-a-week contract at Elland Road, with the Rams prepared to sell.
Vydra, 26, has been a Leeds target for weeks but his terms caused a hold up.
But now there is a compromise and Derby have made it clear he can go.
Frank Lampard has signed Jack Marriott from Peterborough and needs the sale to improve his bid for Ipswich top scorer Martyn Waghorn.
Derby are prepared to pay around £5million plus extras for Waghorn to outbid Sheffield United.
The 28-year-old is midway through a two-year contract with Ipswich.
Now the former Sunderland, Leicester, Wigan and Rangers star has reportedly asked to move.
Last term he hit 16 Championship goals, also providing 16 assists.
In the meantime, Lampard can be satisfied with landing Marriott after Derby had three previous offers rejected for the 23-year-old.
The ex-Ipswich youngster became the Rams' fourth summer signing after hitting 27 goals for Posh in League One last season.
