And Inter will have an option to purchase the right-back at the end of the season.

Manchester United had been linked with a move for the Croatian who helped his side reach the World Cup final.

Jose Mourinho launched a wide-ranging rant after the 4-1 loss to Liverpool on Saturday with one of his gripes being the lack of signings this summer.

And the Manchester United boss has also been unhappy with his starting right-back Antonio Valencia, saying he reported back to pre-season training out of shape.

The Red Devils are still actively trying to add players to their squad before the transfer deadline next Thursday, according to Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho says “I wouldn't pay to watch us after Manchester United’s defeat to Liverpool

He said: "I would like to have two more players. I think I am not going to have two, it is possible I’m going to have one.

“I gave a list to my club of five names a few months ago and I wait to see if it’s possible to have one of these players.

“If it is not possible we keep fighting and working and believing in the players that we have.”
