Lyon boss Bruno Genesio has convinced the highly-rated hitman his immediate future is in France and that he will be given the opportunity to develop under his guidance.

After today’s medical, Griffiths and his representatives will discuss personal terms with the French giants who look to have pulled off a huge coup by bagging the Londoner.

The striker hit 33 goals last season for the Under-18s and was earmarked as the next big thing to come from Spurs' academy.

His brilliant goal haul included bagging four in Spurs’ 9-0 mauling of Arsenal Under-18s in April.

The forward has attracted huge interest from Europe’s elite and Spurs had offered the teenager his first professional contract to ward off any potential suitors.

However, Griffiths failed to agree terms with Spurs at the end of the season and the club took the unusual step of taking his scholarship deal into a third a year.

But after realising the striker would not be signing their standard professional contract, Spurs agreed to the player's request to quit his scholarship and continue his development elsewhere.

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have tracked Griffiths, who is regarded as one of the best young attackers in Europe.

German club RB Leipzig, whose sporting director is former Tottenham head of recruitment Paul Mitchell, have also been interested in signing the youngster.
