PLAYERS and managers across the English Football League have shown their support for Mind's mental health awareness campaign by sporting the 'squiggle' logo next to their shirt names.

As the new English Football League got underway this weekend, there was something uniquely different on the players’ shirts.

The additional graphic joined to their names actually represents the logo of mental health charity Mind which will appear on the back of all EFL shirts for this season.

It comes as part of a breakthrough agreement with players of all 72 clubs in the EFL – across the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two – to include a charity’s logo on their shirts.

The initiative, which is designed to raise awareness about mental health with fans, clubs and staff, was first announced in April.

But this weekend was the first time players had sported the logo next to their name – similar to how it is usually attached to the word Mind in the charity’s logo.
