Moshiri has a 49.9 per cent stake in the Toffees, with an option to buy the rest of the shares.

More boardroom changes are in the pipeline — which could include chairman Bill Kenwright stepping down as early as Thursday — leaving Usmanov free to again join forces with Moshiri.

Iranian Moshiri sold his Arsenal shares to former business partner Usmanov for £200million to move to Goodison in 2016.

The Russian then held 30 per cent of the Gunners, but yesterday accepted an offer of £550m from rival Stan Kroenke.

Income Usmanov has just made would be vital to Moshiri, who needs to find £220m for a new stadium at Bramley–Moore Dock.
