Manchester United news: Gary Neville mocked on Twitter as his old club fail to make any deadline day signings
Former Red Devil posted back in 2012 that teams scrabbling around at the last minute shows they are 'badly run football clubs'
GARY NEVILLE is being mocked on Twitter - and he's brought it all on himself.
Back in August 2012, the former Manchester United defender posted: "What the transfer deadline gives you is a clear indication of which are the badly run football clubs!!!"
He was referring to teams panicking for last-minute buys on deadline day.
And of course, that was exactly what Manchester United were doing today - yet missed out on bringing anybody in.
Boss Jose Mourinho is believed to have been desperate to sign a new centre-half, with the likes of Yerry Mina, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Maguire all rumoured to be targets.
But Mina ended up moving from Barcelona to Everton for £28.5m while Alderweireld and Maguire stayed at their respective clubs, Spurs and Leicester.
It means Mourinho will have to go with what he's got.
But Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have hardly set Old Trafford alight under 'The Special One's tenure.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter users were quick to comment on Neville's post, that he retweeted himself.
One user tagged in Manchester United, while another adds that "our clubs is a perfect example of this".
Gareth Rhys Williams asked Neville whether that was "a dig at Mr Woodward & The Glazers", while another United fan described the club's business as "a shambles".
United start their Premier League campaign at home to Leicester on Friday night.
