Real Madrid welcomes goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as he transfers from Chelsea

According to Spanish news outlet , Keylor Navas is expected to keep his place in the starting XI under Julen Lopetegui.

The Costa Rican international recently conceded four goals in the 4-2 Uefa Super Cup defeat against Atletico Madrid.

But he will be preferred instead having been with the squad for their pre-season tour of the US, while Courtois was given an extended break by the Blues after helping Belgium reach the semi-final of the World Cup.

However it is understood that the ex-Atletico ace will be given a chance to showcase his talents imminently as Lopetegui vies for competition between his goalkeepers.

The ex-Spain boss recently revealed that Courtois isn't a guaranteed starter for Real, and will select his preference on a week-by-week basis.

He said: "There isn't a magic formula. We need to manage it week-by-week.

"We will see as we go who is best for the team at any given time. We have two magnificent goalkeepers, and others as well.

"But of course these are two international-level keepers and we will try to manage it well and make decisions for the team.

Is new Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga good enough to replace Thibaut Courtois?

"Of course there is huge competition for the team but I see it as something positive in that position. It's good for the team to have competition."

Real welcome city rivals Getafe to the Bernabeu tonight, as they look to better Barcelona's 3-0 win against Alaves yesterday.
