Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham set to reject Aston Villa loan move and instead battle his way into Maurizio Sarri’s plans

The 20-year-old is yet to feature for the first team this season under the new Blues manager but does not want to drop down into the Championship

TAMMY ABRAHAM is set to turn down another loan move in favour of staying and fighting for his place at Chelsea.

, the striker is poised to reject a temporary move to Championship side Aston Villa.

Instead he will battle for a place in Maurizio Sarri’s team with Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud the current preferred choices of the new manager.

Abraham, who was reportedly the subject of a £25m deadline-day bid from Tottenham, has not even made the bench under Sarri.

But rather than drop down into the Championship for regular games, Abraham will try and push his claim at Stamford Bridge.

The 20-year-old has come through the ranks with the Blues and signed a new five-year contract last summer before joining Swansea City on loan.

That was his second loan spell, albeit first in the Premier League, after spending the previous season in the Championship with Bristol City.

He scored five Premier League goals for the Swans last term and made his debut for England last November in the 0-0 draw against Germany at Wembley.

Villa boss Steve Bruce had been keen to bolster his attacking options as he looks to go one better than the play-off final defeat last season.

But despite banging in 23 league goals with Bristol, Abraham wants to pursue his Premier League ambitions.
