Manchester United fans left confused after Eric Bailly is left out of squad to face Tottenham at Old Trafford

The Red Devils centre-back has been dropped by Jose Mourinho following his poor showing against Brighton

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho left Eric Bailly out of his matchday squad in the 3-0 defeat against Tottenham - much to the dismay of fans.

The Ivory Coast international has been dropped following his poor performance in the 3-2 defeat against Brighton last week, and has paid the price for his mistakes.

Mourinho rung the changes for the loss against Spurs - making six changes to the starting XI that lost against the Seagulls.

Victor Lindelof was been dropped to the bench, with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling chosen as the preferred pairing by the Special One.

Anthony Martial failed to be included in squad after his horror show against Chris Hughton's side, with Jesse Lingard replacing the Frenchman.

Midfielder Andreas Pereira was another player that started against Brighton that has been omitted from the squad, with Ander Herrera coming in for him.

Antonio Valencia  replaced Ashley Young in the line-up, while Juan Mata  was left out of the matchday 18, with Nemanja Matic returning to make his 50th United appearance.

While Hugo Loris started between the sticks for the North London side, and retained his captaincy with rumours linking Harry Kane with the armband.

Mauricio Pochettino made two changes to the team that beat Fulham 3-1 at Wembley, with Mousa Dembele replacing Davinson Sanchez, and Danny Rose coming in for Ben Davies.
