Bournemouth 3 MK Dons 0: Lys Mousset, Ryan Fraser and Jordon Ibe goals send Cherries into third round of Carabao Cup
Eddie Howe's side maintain excellent start to the season with easy win over League Two side at the Vitality
SPEED KING Ryan Fraser scared the daylights out of League Two high-fliers MK Dons.
Paul Tisdale’s boys, costing just £300,000 to put together, were always going to be on the back foot against the unbeaten Premier League side.
The fact that Bournemouth’s mainly second-string was worth a cool £72million did not help the Dons’ cause either.
All eyes were on big Colombian star Jefferson Lerma who was making his debut following his £25m club record move from La Liga outfit Levante.
Lerma looked confident strutting his stuff in strong in midfield.
He even had the cheek to try his luck with a long-range effort after just three minutes but his effort flew well over the bar.
But it was tiny 5ft 4in Scotland international Fraser who put on the biggest show scoring one goal and making another before the break.
Fraser, called up this week for Scotland’s two games against Belgium and Albania, fed the ball to Jermain Defoe to fire wide.
Then Lewis Cook, making his first start of the season, slipped a wonderful pass to Fraser.
The little man let rip with a vicious drive which was tipped over the bar by the flying Dons goalkeeper Lee Nicholls.
But Cherries’ fans did not have long to wait for the opener.
Fraser fed Lys Mousset on 15 minutes and the Frenchman drove in his third goal for the club through Nicholls’ legs.
Mousset, who cost just £5.4m, hardly celebrated, just nodding his head in satisfaction that had finally hit the net.
Eddie Howe’s side have made a habit of coming from behind to take points in the top flight but there was no need for that here as they took complete control.
Fraser was on fire and came close to setting up a second for Mousset before the Scot doubled the score on 37 minutes.
Jordon Ibe had one cross blocked before his second effort was volleyed home in no-nonsense fashion by Fraser.
Bournemouth also fielded their new £10.7m Spanish defender Diego Rico who almost grabbed a goal on his debut.
The former Leganes star sent in a dipping free-kick just before the hour which crashed against MK Dons’ cross-bar.
Not to be outdone Lerma tried his luck from 25-yards forcing the over-worked Nicholls into a twisting save.
It was not that many years ago when Bournemouth boss Howe was facing Tisdale in the lower divisions when he was at Exeter.
But the Cherries are in another stratosphere nowadays and the football showed.
Ibe put the icing on this cakewalk in injury time when he smashed in the third.
