Manchester United should sack Jose Mourinho because he has ‘NEVER looked happy there’, insists Jamie Redknapp
Sky pundit Redknapp says he cannot see how Mourinho can turn around the problems at United and deliver success at Old Trafford
JAMIE REDKNAPP says Manchester United should sack Jose Mourinho because there is no way he can bring the club back from their current problems.
Mourinho is under increasing press after the 3-0 thrashing by Tottenham left them with just one point from their opening three matches this season.
The United board remain strong in their support for their manager and currently have no plans to make a change at the top.
But Redknapp told that he believes Mourinho has never been happy with life at Old Trafford and is the wrong man for the job.
The Sky pundit said: “Against Brighton, for me, it looked like the team weren’t playing for the manager.
“You can turn round and say, ‘let’s give him time, let’s give him until the end of his contract’, but you’re damaging a brand here.
“I just don’t see how he can turn this around.
“That’s not because I think Jose Mourinho is not a good manager, I just don’t think he’s the right manager for Manchester United.
“I don’t think his style fits, and he’s never looked happy there.”
Redknapp claims the decision to play Ander Herrera as a defender against Spurs smacked of a manager making desperate changes under pressure.

He added: “I think it’s always a tell-tale sign when managers come under severe pressure, or they are having a bad time, when they do strange things when they pick a team.
“Picking Ander Herrera in a back-three – that, to me, is bizarre.
“He is not a centre-back and he hasn’t got tremendous height. He’s ok pace-wise, but you’re playing against one of the best centre-forwards in Harry Kane! As a back-three they were all over the place.
"They are the sort of things that you do as a manager when you’re under pressure. You make strange decisions."
