Abraham had spells on loan at Bristol City and Swansea over the last two seasons but has been out of the first-team picture in West London.

He scored 23 goals in 41 games for Bristol City, and five for Swansea last season in 31 appearances.

His early season form last season earned him an England call-up and he has been capped twice by Gareth Southgate.

But Abraham has missed all three squads of the Blues' opening Premier League fixtures, as they took home nine points from nine.

The young striker had been back training at Cobham with the Chelsea first team but now looks set for a switch to Villa Park as Villains boss Bruce looks to bolster his team for another promotion charge.

Villa managed to keep hold of star midfielder Jack Grealish after a proposed move to Tottenham broke down before the transfer deadline.

Abraham shared a quirky FaceTime chat with Brazil legend Ronaldo as he soaked up some advice from the 2002 World Cup winner.

The England youngster posted a grab from the chat on his Instagram and thanked the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid star for his words of wisdom.

He would become the 34th Chelsea player to go on out on loan this season.

On Thursday, Leeds comfirmed that forward Izzy Brown has joined on loan for the rest of the season.

Villa have picked up nine points from their opening five games but remain undefeated after two wins and three draws.

Leeds and Middlesbrough are the early Championship front-runners with 13 points from a possible 15.
