Rangers clinch Joe Worrall loan deal as England Under-21 star joins from Nottingham Forest

RANGERS have completed the deadline day loan signing of highly-rated Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall.

Steven Gerrard has snapped up the promising centre back to bolster his options as he plots dual challenges in the Scottish Premiership and Europa League.

The 21-year-old has agreed to make the switch to Ibrox on a season-long loan deal and is expected become a key part of Gerrard's plans this season.

Worrall has been a regular fixture in the England age group squads that have achieved tournament success in recent years.

He made four appearances for the under-20 side, captaining the side to victory in the prestigious Toulon Tournament last year.

Since then he has been elevated to the under-21 squad where has has played three more times.

Worrall has been earmarked for a big future in the game ever since he came through the youth system at Forest.

Since making his debut as a teenager in 2016 he has gone on to make 56 appearances for the Championship club, showing up well against the physical demands of the league.

He had earlier impressed during a three month loan spell with Dagenham and Redbridge.
