The Portuguese, who was watching new signing Diogo Dalot and Academy stars in action, is said to have spent 10-15 minutes chatting and laughing with a group of fans in the front row.

Alex Neild, who got a picture with Mourinho and his shirt signed, wrote on Twitter: "Just spent a good bit of time chatting with Jose, what a top bloke."

Another fan wrote: "Form (good or bad) is temporary, class is permanent."

One said: "Nice touch".
