PAUL POGBA has his heart set on a sensational return to Juventus, according to reports.
The Frenchman, who has endured a difficult start to the season at Manchester United, was hoping to seal a move back to Spanish giants Barcelona this summer, but that failed to materialise.
However, the 25-year-old could now move back to Turin in January when the transfer window reopens, according to Tuttosport.
According to the Turin-based newspaper, Pogba is so determined to reunite with his old Bianconeri teammates and join the Cristiano Ronaldo revolution that he is prepared to ditch United halfway through the season.
That would be an extraordinary twist in the tale, especially as Juve and United are set to face-off in the Champions League group stage.
And owing to new rules put in place by Uefa, Pogba wouldn't be cup-tied if he were to make the switch back to Turin in the second half of the campaign.
Pogba, who won four Serie A titles at the club between 2012 and 2016, could prove to be the lynch-pin the Italian giants need to end their 22-year European drought.
However, United would be firmly against selling to Juve, who of course picked up the then teenage sensation as a free agent after he was released by United six years ago.
Pogba, of course, returned to his former side for £89m two years ago - but since then has received his fair share of criticism.
However, his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho is under increased scrutiny and so could attempt to force a move away from United if the opportunity arises in the new year.
