JAMIE REDKNAPP believes West Ham United must return to their traditional values - must take responsibility for their disastrous start to the season.
Despite splashing out close to £100m in the transfer window, the Hammers lie firmly rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table - after losing their first four games.
And says that won't change unless they revert back to their roots - and only then will they win back their fanbase.
He said: "The best way to win over the West Ham faithful is to work hard, chase lost causes and give their all. Do that and results will come.
"George Parris may not have been the best player but he remains a cult hero among West Ham fans.
"He is someone who understood the level of performance these supporters demand from their players: effort, desire, determination to get stuck in."
He added: "Above all, the players must start to take some responsibility on the pitch.
"They deserved the chorus of boos as they left the field on Saturday.
"Not for the first time, the team looked like 11 strangers."
Manuel Pellegrini has endured a nightmare start to life in east London, but Redknapp has backed the former Manchester City boss to turn their fortunes around.
HAMMERS HOME MISERY
- West Ham have lost their last three home games against newly-promoted sides.
- 1-0 vs Wolves, 3-2 vs Newcastle in December 2017 and 3-0 vs Brighton in October 2017
He added: "Now more than ever the owners have to remain patient.
"I do think it will click for Pellegrini and he will benefit from having the international break to work with his squad."
Next up the Hammers travel to Everton in the Premier League on September 16, as they look to end their winless run.
