Man City want Tottenham to pay for fans’ travel arrangements after Premier League clash was moved to Wembley

MANCHESTER CITY want Spurs to pay for away fans’ travel to Wembley after moving their Prem clash back a day.

City is annoyed at having to rearrange their fixture list because of a delay to the opening of the Londoners’ new £850million stadium.

Spurs announced they have moved their home league match with the Etihad club from Sunday October 28 to the Monday — and it will now be played at Wembley.

City hopes to put on free buses for the fans who have been inconvenienced.

And they want Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy to help with the cost, or pick up the whole tab, as a gesture of goodwill.

The game will be played just over 24 hours after an NFL match — and City boss Pep Guardiola also has fears over the pitch.

The fixture change means City have had to push back their Carabao Cup match that week, assuming they beat Oxford in the third round, to Thursday November 1.

This had the knock-on effect of their home league match against Southampton the following weekend being moved to Sunday November 4.

City play Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League the following week — but their fixture is on the Wednesday.

Had it been a Tuesday, City would not have gone along with rearranging.

Spurs’ first fixture at their new ground could now be a clash against London rivals Chelsea on Saturday November 24.

The club had hoped to open the 62,000-seater venue against Liverpool on September 15.

Chairman Levy said: “Although disappointing, costly and frustrating, I am uncompromising in my determination to deliver something extraordinary.”

Tottenham had already announced they would be playing their opening Champions League home clash against Barcelona at Wembley on October 3.

But yesterday it was revealed they would also be hosting their two other group clashes against PSV and Inter Milan at the national stadium.
