Marco Verratti will hope his manager doesn't find his winning formula without him available this international break.
The 25-year-old has been ruled out of the Azzurri's UEFA Nations League ties against Poland and Portugal, which will give Roberto Mancini opportunity to discover his strongest 11.
Why is Marco Verratti not playing?
The full international hasn't played since he picked up a thigh injury playing in a friendly against Argentina in March.
Six months later and he is still recovering with the expectation he'll return to PSG first team training within the next month.
His energy in midfield will be missed, but his manager will know it's important he gets the required rest to return to fitness ahead of Italy's bid to reach Euro 2020.
What did the manager say?
During Mancini's latest press conference, he said: "Verratti had a lot of physical problems but he told me he was much better.
"After the international break, he will be available again to his coach and he should be present at the next meet-up.
"He has experience, he plays in an important team, he will be very useful," he added.
What time is Italy's next game?
Italy play Poland on Friday, September 7.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7.45pm.
It takes place at the 38,000-capacity Stadio Renato Dall'Ara, Bologne.
The reverse tie will be held on Sunday, October 14, with the location still to be confirmed.
