The 19-year-old is on £40,000-a-week at Anfield but has seen his value increase after establishing himself as Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice full-back.

He is set for a pay-rise past the £60,000-a-week mark plus an extension, with just two full seasons remaining on his current contract.

Gomez is also in line for a fresh deal after his return from injury at the start of the season.

The ex-Charlton centre-back, 21, will also smash through the £50,000-a-week barrier after impressing during his three years at the club.

He rushed back to help Liverpool’s campaign in the Champions League last season but aggravated an ankle injury suffered on England duty.

This season he has returned and has been given a place straight back in Klopp’s starting line-up.

Klopp said of Alexander-Arnold: "He's very smart, a very serious football player already. He wants to play, wants to perform, wants to show his best."

On Gomez, he added: "I was never in doubt about Joe and his ability to play at centre-back, but he needed time after a long injury.

"Full-back is a very important position but you still have most of the time at least one centre-back at your back still I think it helps still, especially at defending moments.

“Now he is fit, and is a very good football player and plays the position well."
