Salah put his row with Egyptian football chiefs about his image rights behind him to put in a star showing in African Cup of Nations qualifying
MOHAMED SALAH scored twice and missed two penalties as Egypt thrashed Niger 6-0 in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying on Saturday.
The Liverpool forward put his row with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) about his image rights behind him to put on an outstanding display in Alexandria.
In an incredible start to the game, Salah won a penalty within seconds but his spot kick was saved by Daouda Kassaly.
But he made up for his early miss by setting up Marwan Mohsen for the opener on 13 minutes.
Egypt doubled their lead through Ayman Ashraf before Salah had another spot-kick saved.
The Liverpool striker then got in on the act forcing home from close range.
The 26-year-old then laid one on a plate for Salah Mohsen prior to heading in Egypt’s fifth for his 39th goal for the Pharaoh’s.
Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny completed the rout after netting the sixth goal to help erase a poor World Cup in Russia.
It was a positive start for new coach Javier Aguirre who replaced Hector Cuper after their disastrous campaign in Russia.
The win takes Egypt to second in AFCON Group J with leaders Tunisia facing Swaziland on Sunday.
