Why is Harry Kane NOT playing for England vs Switzerland, and when will the Three Lions captain return?
The 25-year-old will sit out England's friendly with Switzerland to avoid fatigue as club and country continue to rely on him
HARRY KANE may be the World Cup Golden Boot winner, but he won’t get to feature against Switzerland on Tuesday night.
Gareth Southgate is expected to ring the changes for the friendly, despite a loss meaning his Three Lions side would be the first to ever lose four games in a row.
Why is Harry Kane NOT playing for England against Switzerland?
England’s captain has played all 61 matches since the start of last season, including 573 minutes in the World Cup, so it seems the right time to give the 25-year-old a break.
With a lack of alternatives to Kane for both club and country, it’s important he stays fit as he establishes himself as one of the best forwards in world football.
The friendly will give understudies Marcus Rashford and Danny Welbeck the chance to show they can step up if called upon.
When will Harry Kane return?
Tottenham face Liverpool at 12.30pm on Saturday, and Kane is expected to be back fully rested as Mauricio Pottechino’s side look to prove their title credentials.
As for England, you can bet he’ll be back to take revenge against World Cup party poopers Croatia in the UEFA Nations League on Friday, October 12.
When does England vs Switzerland kick off?
This international friendly match will take place on Tuesday, September 11.
It will kick off at 8pm.
The game will be held at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.
