FABINHO has questioned Chelsea's decision to let flop Tiemoue Bakayoko leave on loan.

The French midfielder failed to impress in the capital since his £40million deal from Monaco in July 2017.

New boss Maurizio Sarri sanctioned his loan switch to Italian giants AC Milan this summer with a view to a permanent deal.

And Fabinho, who played alongside Bakayoko at Monaco for two seasons, believes the Blues will live to regret the decision.

The Liverpool ace told Yahoo: "I don't think he struggled that much.

"I watched a few games and he seemed always good to me.

"Obviously, in your first season in a new club it’s always difficult and I wasn’t expecting him to leave, but AC Milan are getting a great player.

"I’m sure he’ll be able to prove how good he is and show what he did at Monaco.

"I’m sure if he comes back to England he will be stronger and will show everyone what he’s capable of."

Bakayoko made his debut for AC Milan in their opening 3-2 defeat against Napoli when he came on for 32 minutes.

He was then an unused substitute in the last-gasp 2-1 victory over Roma.

Meanwhile Fabinho has yet to make his Liverpool debut but boss Jurgen Klopp admitted he should get his chance after the international break.

He said: “He could have been in the squad, of course, but it's quite difficult to make the squad at the moment because they are all fit.

“But he will come back. And now we have games every three days, and he has made big steps in the last few weeks. He could even play at the moment.

“Hopefully now Fabinho has games with Brazil, and then after he comes back we have games, games, games."
