Samsung baffled by VR-wearing fan after revealing he could not have been watching match

Twice in the past week, the football fan was spotted wearing the goggles at games

SAMSUNG have revealed the VR-wearing football fan cannot have been watching either game at Manchester City or Southampton.

The fan was spotted at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night, 48 hours after taking in Brighton's draw at Southampton.

Yet it has transpired that the man was not taking in the matches.

For Samsung have confirmed to SunSport that the equipment is their Gear VR headset - but that it's not capable of showing football.

The virtual reality headset retails at £119, which is substantially more than the cost of the seats the man was sat in.

A general sale ticket in the Colin Bell Stand cost £40 for City's 2-1 defeat to Lyon on Wednesday, while a ticket at St. Mary's was from £30.

According to Samsung's website, the flash kit lets users “draw constellations in the night sky, cast a fishing line with precision, fire guns in multiplayer standoffs and more”.

But not watch football.

It is designed to be paired up with a mobile phone, allowing users to essentially see what is on their phone before their very eyes.

The man appeared to be sat next to the same woman at both games, but her focus was on the pitch.

She appeared to be wearing a City scarf and had the club crest painted on her cheek.

It was a disappointing night for fans - if you were watching the game.
