IT IS now clear why Mark Clattenburg opted to leave England for Saudi Arabia: the comically calamitous goal-line scrambles.

During Al-Faisaly's game against Ohod in the Saudi Professional League, one of the most surreal moments in football occurred.

Al-Faisaly won 2-0 but it could have been even more - if it weren't for their own player.

Croatian defender Ante Puljic threw himself at a loose ball but injured himself as he collided with Ohod defenders.

Goalkeeper Zouheir Laaroubi vacated his goal as he chased after the Al-Faisaly attacker who turned and sent the ball back into the box.

Laaroubi pounced but the ball squirmed under him and Fahad Al Ansari looked to poke it into the net.

His shot squeezed past three Ohod defenders and was rolling into the empty net. Remember Pujic, the injured defender?

He's lying on the line and the ball rebounds off him and trickles to safety.

It even more bizarre than the strange brown and yellow patterned kit that Ohod were wearing.

You can see why Clattenburg - who quit the Prem last year - was attracted.
