Southampton star Ryan Bertrand wears special Black History Month boots during defeat against Chelsea
The England international's boots contained the face of Martin Luther King, along with his quote: "I have a dream"
RYAN BERTRAND showed off his special Black History Month boots during Southampton's defeat against Chelsea.
The 29-year-old showcased the white boots containing the face of civil rights activist Martin Luther King.
His white cleats also included King's famous quote: "I have a dream," along the outside.
Black History Month occurs each year, which celebrates and pays tribute to pivotal moments of African diaspora.
And Bertrand paid his respects to King during Sunday's clash against his former employers at St Mary's.
But the game ended in disappointment for the England international, after the Blues eased to a 3-0 victory.
Eden Hazard broke the deadlock for Maurizio Sarri's side, before Ross Barkley opened his account for Chelsea following his January signing from Everton.
Alvaro Morata sealed the victory in the closing stages of the game, to cap a fine week for the Spanish striker in which he has netted twice.
The West Londoners leapfrogged Liverpool in the Premier League table, and sit below Manchester City on goal difference.
Southampton sit in 16th spot, with Mark Hughes' men without a home win all season.
