Arsenal and Chelsea’s Premier League title challenge dismissed by Manchester United legend Gary Neville

Maurizio Sarri's Blues moved alongside Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table while Arsenal have won nine games in a row

GARY NEVILLE has ruled out Chelsea and Arsenal's Premier League title hopes despite both clubs' red-hot form.

Maurizio Sarri's side moved joint top alongside Liverpool and Manchester City on 20 points after remaining undefeated with their 3-0 win over Southampton.

London rivals Arsenal are also in fine form and have won their last six league matches.

A resounding 5-1 win at Fulham on Sunday ensures Unai Emery's confident Gunners continued to close the gap after losing their opening two matches.

Arsenal haven't won the league title since 2004 but head into the international break two points adrift of the front three in fourth.

But despite keeping in touch with favourites Liverpool and Man City, Neville believes challenging at the end of the season will be a step too far.

Speaking on his podcast, the former Man United defender said: "I don’t think Arsenal… I don’t think they’ll be challenging for the title.

"(Chelsea) have started the season well. But after eight games I still think it’s very early to think about Chelsea challenging (Man City or Liverpool)."

Neville also believes Manchester United's stunning comeback against Newcastle will only brush the turmoil surrounding Jose Mourinho under the carpet.

He added: "It was a good day, but all it does probably is bump the problem down the road, in the sense that in a couple of weeks’ time they play Chelsea away.

"The international break is probably a welcome break for Jose Mourinho, the board and for the players, but it all happens (when they return) in about a month and that’s when we’ll find out where they’re at this season."
