FRANK LAMPARD is considered a legend of football and that was confirmed this evening.
The Derby manager received Legends of Football's annual award for 2018 at a charity event at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.
Lampard becomes the 22nd winner of the award since its conception in 1997 and joins an elite list of past winners in the 'League of Legends'.
He said: "It’s a real honour for me to receive the Legends of Football award this year.
"Just seeing my name mentioned amongst those past winners is something to cherish."
Legends of Football said: "In 2018, Frank Lampard joins this list of outstanding footballers to receive this coveted badge of honour.
"His outstanding career saw him win every possible domestic trophy as well as breaking numerous individual records.
"He fully deserves this honour and we can’t wait to celebrate an extraordinary career."
And he is in fine company as a recipient of the award.
Gerrard picked it up in 2017 while previous winners also include David Beckham, Pele, Sir Alex Ferguson and Lampard's uncle Harry Redknapp.
Lampard won three Premier Leagues, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League during his 13-year Chelsea career.
He was awarded an OBE in 2015, the year after he left Stamford Bridge to spend a season at Manchester City before finishing his career with MLS side New York City.
His 609 Premier League appearances place him third in the all-time list behind Gareth Barry and Ryan Giggs.
The midfielder bagged 177 goals in England's top flight from midfield and he sits fourth in the all-time list, 13 places ahead of the next highest-scoring midfielder, Steven Gerrard.
