Xherdan Shaqiri reveals he has NEVER set foot in Liverpool city centre since summer move from Stoke

Swiss winger has not moved house after Anfield switch and has only been into to city on matchdays

XHERDAN SHAQIRI has revealed he has never set foot in Liverpool city centre since his summer arrival, and still lives in Manchester.

The Swiss international move to Anfield from relegated Stoke in July for a bargain £13.5million.

And the 27-year-old states he only goes to Liverpool’s Melwood training complex towards the outskirts of the city and only ventures into the centre of town for matches and when he stays at the team hotel.

Shaqiri told Swiss newspaper : "I still live in Manchester, in the same house where I lived during my time with Stoke.

"To be honest I have never yet been into the city of Liverpool, except to the team hotel with the rest of the squad.

"The players told me it is somewhat difficult to go there, as people come up to you pretty directly.

"Is it dangerous because of the Everton fans? I don't know.

"I think that if you behave decently then nothing will happen to you.

"But when we are at the team hotel in the city on Fridays we can hear the people outside at 11pm and midnight.

"I think the windowpanes in England aren't as thick as the ones in Switzerland!"

Shaqiri insisted he relishes working under his fellow German speaker Klopp, despite a lack of starting appearances.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan ace said: "I have a very good relationship with him. He makes our work a lot of fun.

"I am happy. I think I am relatively close to being in Liverpool's first-team - in fact very close."
