Arsenal legend Thierry Henry will have to work harder than his rivals at Monaco, says his coaching mentor
Gunners icon Henry will take charge of his first game against Strasbourg on Saturday
LEGEND Thierry Henry was warned he must work harder than his rivals to make it in management.
The ex-Arsenal and France striker, 41, was unveiled as new Monaco boss yesterday.
World Cup winner Henry will take charge of his first game at Strasbourg on Saturday.
Superstar Henry scored a record-breaking 228 goals for the Gunners.
And the Gallic genius then took his coaching badges in Wales under FAW technical director Osian Roberts — who is also assistant manager to Ryan Giggs.
Roberts said: “There will be pressure on Thierry wherever he goes because the expectation is so high.

“That is down to his reputation and what he was like as a player.
“He knows better than anybody that gives him no guarantees.
“And Thierry will know he has to work harder than anybody to give himself the chance to be successful.
“He knows what is at stake and how hard he will have to work.
“But the great thing about him is that he has no ego. He has a great humility and knows he has no God-given right to succeed as a manager.”
Henry will lock horns with former Gunners team-mate Patrick Vieira, who is now boss of Nice in Ligue 1.
The first meeting between these two French greats is on December 8.
Vieira also took his badges with the Welsh FA and Roberts added: “I can’t wait.
“I’ll definitely be going to that game and it should be really good fun.
“I’m delighted for Thierry. He’s done all his preparatory work to get everything in place and now he’s ready to take a leadership role.
“He’s been carefully waiting for the right opportunity and I think it’s come his way.
“He’s got plenty of people at the club he knows from his playing days there.
“So he’ll have support behind him there and I am convinced he will do well.
“There are more young managers getting into these roles, which is great.”
