Brighton striker Glenn Murray ‘feeling much better’ after sickening clash of heads with Newcastle defender Federico Fernandez
Star was taken to hospital in North East yesterday but has given a positive update today
GLENN MURRAY said he is feeling "much better" today following his sickening clash of heads with Newcastle's Federico Fernandez yesterday.
The Brighton striker, 35, landed in a heap and was taken to hospital in the North East for precautionary scans.
But he has given an update and thanks fans and medics for all the help and support he received.
Seagulls forward Murray tweeted: "Thanks for all the well wishes and big thanks to @OfficialBHAFC medical team and everyone at @NUFC & @NewcastleHosps #RVI Feeling much better this morning after yesterday’s events."
The Brighton forward went up for a high ball with the Argentinian defender, before they clashed heads and both men were down for a period of eight minutes at St James' Park.
Murray appeared to be knocked unconscious when the Toon defender nodded the back of his head.
Brighton skipper Bruno was the first to the scene and seemed to offer some sort of treatment to Murray as panicking players urged dawdling medical staff to hurry.
When they eventually came on to the pitch, Newcastle's Yshinori Muro even helped run the stretcher on.
Both sets of fans applauded Murray who left St James' Park on a stretcher with an oxygen mask on his face after being seen to by doctors.
Chris Hughton said: “He’s going to be sore for a short while and this week we will do the appropriate things we need to do with him. We are just happy he’s okay.”

He was replaced by Jurgen Locadia after just 16 minutes but Hughton's side were still able to keep their focus to go on and win the game.
Beram Kayal's flicked effort with half an hour played proved the only goal of the game and made it back-to-back Premier League wins for the Seagulls.
It was their first away win in the league since November 4 last year, a 1-0 win over Swansea.
But the pressure only increases on Rafa Benitez as his Newcastle side remain without a league win this season and rooted to the bottom of the table.
