Rafa Benitez pulls out of Monday Night Football and replaced by Graeme Souness after Newcastle’s defeat to Brighton

RAFA BENITEZ has pulled out of appearing as analyst on Sky Sports Monday Night Football.

The Newcastle United boss was due to be special guest for Arsenal’s clash with Leicester tonight.

Now he will be replaced in the studio by Graeme Souness for coverage of the Premier League game.

According to the , Benitez has agreed to appear on the show on the proviso his side gained a positive result against Brighton.

But the 1-0 defeat to the Seagulls at St James’ Park left Newcastle without a win this season and rooted to the foot of the table.

That left Sky looking for a replacement, therefore turning to ex-Toon manager Souness to step in.

Benitez’s close relationship with MNF pundit Jamie Carragher from there time together at Liverpool led to the agreement.

And it is likely that will lead to another appearance being agreed should Newcastle’s form improve.

The Spaniard faces a crunch run of fixtures before the next international break as he looks to guide the club away from the bottom.
